PCA Positive Parent Workshop & CPR/AED/Sports First Aid Class
by posted 04/16/2019
This year we are very focused on making sure that there is a POSITIVE and HEALTHY enviroment for every player, coach and parent that is involved with the Brighton Youth Baseball Association. To help us reach this goal we are providing two great opportunities this week that we hope all BYBA parents and coaches will participate in.
Making sure that all of our players have a positive enviroment to play in starts with the parents and coaches. The PCA Positive Parent Workshop will provide tons of great ideas about how we can all do a better job of this. This class is HIGHLY recomended for all BYBA parents and coaches.
Heart Smart CPR/AED/Sports First Aid Class
Saturday, April 20th, 7am to 11am
Brighton Recreation Center
555 N. 11th Ave., Brighton, CO 80601
We hope that we never have to deal with a medical issue with one of our players during a BYBA game or practice but if we do we want to make sure that there are people in attendance that know how to handle the sittuation. We have worked out a deal with Heart Smart to provide their 4 hour CPR/AED/Sports First Aid Class for any coaches and parents that would like to participate. We would like to have at least 1 coach from every team take this class so the BYBA will cover the cost of this class for 1 coach from each team. If any parents would like to take the class it will be $35 that can be paid for with cash or check when you arrive. If you are going to attend please send an email to the BYBA Rec League Director, Cory Moul at email@example.com so we have an idea of how many people plan to attend.
The weekend of April 13-14 is one of our busiest weekends of the 2019 season.
There will be 200 teams playing in the CABA Colorado Brighton Bash at 30+ fields on April 13th & 14th. The BYBA will be hosting games at the Brighton Youth Sports Complex, the Brighton Adult Sports Complex and the Brighton High School Softball field.
On Saturday, April 13th the BYBA and Sparkling Kindness will also be hosting a Youth Cardiac Screen and New/Used Baseball & Softball Equipment Drive at the BYBA Indoor Practice Facility from 10am to 3pm. The IPF is located in the west parking lot of the Brighton Youth Sports Complex. The cost to take the Youth Cardiac Screen is $10. The first 100 kids that donate equipment will get their Youth Cardiac Screen for FREE!
Dick's Sporting Goods will also be holding a 20% Discount Day for the BYBA at their Brighton store on Saturday, April 13th.
Good luck to all of the BYBA Competitive Baseball teams that will be playing in the Brighton Bash this weekend!
For all games (Comp, Rec, and Softball) played in Brighton, the BYBA field director will make a decision no later than 330pm to cancel games. Anything later than that we will leave to the umpires. As you can imagine, there are circumstances that will necessitate some flexibility in the policy. That being said 3:30pm is our goal.
For games played outside of BYBA, we do not have control over how those fields are managed. Each area and or game will be individually addressed and the teams will be notified appropriately.
The light schedule is reviewed daily, if there is ever a field lighting issue, please contact Kelly Wadsworth or Gordon Lancaster. Lights are scheduled to come on during games only - 30 minutes before sunset. Additionally, the concession stand staff will have a phone number to call for lights in the event Kelly or Gordon cannont be reached. Please note the lights take 10-15 minutes to warm up to full capacity.
